If Jordan Milton looks like a model, that's because she is. The 19-year-old Morgan State University sophomore occasionally models in the Baltimore area, as well as around her hometown of New Castle, Del. "Fashion is very important to me because I feel as though I have to look the part. Where I go, I like to have that attention. It's good to have people say, 'Oh, you look like a model.' " This broadcast journalism major certainly got our attention when we "glimpsed" her in between classes at Morgan's Student Center.
The look: : White cotton deep V-neck T-shirt. Dark denim Levi flare jeans. Gold chain necklace. Goldtone bracelets. Gold leather ruffle flip-flops. Tan canvas and faux-leather-trim tote. Light-green sunglasses. Textured metal hoop earrings.
Where it came from: : The T-shirt is from Old Navy, and the jeans came from the Levi store. She found her flip-flops at the Gap, her necklace at Macy's, her bracelets at H&M and her earrings from Forever 21. She borrowed the tote from a friend, and bought her sunglasses at Urban Outfitters.
Self-described style: : "Fun, jazzy and, at the same time, classy."
Her wardrobe basics: : "You always have to have tank tops, and beaters in all different colors. You definitely have to have two good pairs of jeans - a skinny jean and a relaxed, wide-leg, or flare, pair of jeans. Shoe-wise, it's always good to have a black peep-toe. It's good to have a classic black-and-white Converse. And for regular everyday [wear], a hoodie, just to be comfortable."
There's her daytime look: : "Most likely, at school it's a basic shirt or tank top. ... If it's school on a regular day, if it's a nice day outside, I may go for something eye-catching like a flowy skirt or something that really stands out. I will build from that. ... [On this particular day,] I was really going for a relaxed kind of look."
And then there's her nighttime look: : "If I'm going out, everything has to be eye-catching. It has to be a perfect outfit. ... My favorite outfit would be my Express leather skirt, and I have these shoes from BCBG Girls, black patent leather peep-toe and the heel curves. Then a corset top or something that's not so basic."
Most of the time, it's not about the brand: : "I really don't do a lot of designers, unless it's shoes. I'm not a millionaire, so I go for what I think looks nice and what I can afford. Sales are important, very important. ... At T.J. Maxx, you can always find designer clothes or shoes at a really good price. Most of my shoes are Steve Madden, BCBG, Jessica Simpson."
