Nemesis Halladay Foils O's Yet Again

Orioles Drop Fourth Consecutive Game

May 02, 2009|By Jeff Zrebiec , jeff.zrebiec@baltsun.com

Hendrickson has not made it through six innings in any of his five starts, and Orioles manager Dave Trembley skillfully sidestepped a question about whether the veteran's rotation spot is secure.

Trembley has few rotation options, and plenty of other concerns. Reliever Dennis Sarfate, whose fastball velocity has been down significantly after offseason shoulder surgery, was forced out of the game in the seventh inning when the middle finger of his throwing hand when numb, pre- venting him from gripping the base- ball.

"I've never felt anything like this," Sarfate said. "It just kind of scared me. You start losing sensation in your fingers, you don't what to do or what to expect. Hopefully, it's nothing."

Fellow reliever Chris Ray also struggled again, leaving the Orioles with only one piece of good news - they won't have to face Halladay again for a little while.
