City police internal affairs head leaving
2
The head of the Baltimore Police Department's internal investigations division submitted retirement paperwork this week, the latest shake-up of the agency's command staff. A police spokesman said the departure of Maj. Keith Teidemann, a 32-year veteran who took over last fall after his predecessor was pressured to resign, is voluntary, due to an injury and a new job opportunity. It continues a rash of departures of those who investigate police misconduct, including the firing last month of the department's trial board chief, JoAnn Woodson Branche. The police union has said it believes dozens of cases may be thrown out because of what they say were errors committed by Branche.
