Now the Patriots, who lost the Class 3A state championship game last year, and the Mavericks, who have been to the 2A state finals three of the past five years, will face off.

No. 1 McDonogh @ No. 13 Maryvale

WHEN: Thursday, 4 p.m.

OUTLOOK: The Eagles have clinched the top seed in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference tournament, but they are looking to polish off a perfect run through the conference's regular season. The Lions, who upset No. 8 John Carroll, won't go easily. However, no team is more balanced than McDonogh.

OUTLOOK: These two teams are heading in opposite directions, with the Lakers savoring a win over previous No. 1 and undefeated Gilman last week and the two-time defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference champion Dons mired in a four-game losing streak. Boys' Latin is getting better every game.
