Ravens To Add Kicker, Linebacker, 2 Receivers

Florida State's Graham Gano has agreed to sign with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent and will compete to become the team's kicker.

Gano, who won the Lou Groza Award, which goes to the nation's top place-kicker, will battle Steve Hauschka for the job held by Matt Stover for the past 13 seasons.

Gano, who was born in Scotland, converted 24 of 26 field goals last season, missing from 52 and 50 yards. He showed a strong leg with 10 field goals beyond 40 yards.

"I'm really excited," Gano told Florida's Pensacola News-Journal. "I couldn't be any happier knowing that I'm with an NFL team. I'm ready to get up there and compete."

The most high-profile addition could be Georgia outside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, who was rated No. 18 on ESPN's list of top undrafted rookies.

Considered a mid-round prospect, Ellerbe is an explosive tackler who has some character issues. He was suspended for the first three games in 2006 after his arrest in an alcohol-related traffic incident. He pleaded guilty to reduced charges and was sentenced to two days in jail and two years' probation.

After not drafting a wide receiver, the Ravens added two from the Atlantic Coast Conference, reaching agreements with Duke's Eron Riley and Maryland's Isaiah Williams.

Riley, 6 feet 3, 206 pounds, finished second in Blue Devils history in receiving yards (2,413) and third in touchdowns (22). He ran the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day in 4.36 seconds, which would have ranked fourth at the NFL combine.

Williams, 6-3, 200 pounds, had only 10 catches for 124 yards and one touchdown last season for the Terps. His 40-yard time at the Pro Day was 4.38.

Other undrafted rookies expected to sign with the Ravens are: quarterback Drew Willey (Buffalo); offensive linemen Cameron Goldberg (Duke, McDonogh) and Greg Ryan (Western Kentucky); fullback Jason Cook (Mississippi); defensive tackle Will Johnson (Michigan); and defensive end Willie VanDeSteeg (Minnesota).

The Ravens won't officially confirm their undrafted free agents until the player completes a physical and signs a contract. Players report to the Ravens on May 8 for a minicamp.

Note: Offensive tackle Jared Gaither hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent in an attempt to get a long-term deal with the team. Gaither, who replaced Jonathan Ogden at left tackle last season, will be a restricted free agent in 2010.
