Play It Again

Nick the Stick

Nick Markakis continues to swing one of the hottest bats in the majors. His double in the fourth inning scored Adam Jones, extended his hitting streak to 10 games and increased his RBI total to 19. He entered the game tied for the major league lead with Albert Pujols, but Pujols took over sole possession of that distinction with a two-homer performance Thursday afternoon.

Moeller halts skid

Reserve catcher Chad Moeller called a nice game Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, but he entered Thursday night's game with the Orioles 0-4 in the games he has started behind the plate. He did a great job handling Adam Eaton and finally got to shake hands with the last pitcher of the game.

On deck

Koji Uehara is coming off his first major league defeat, but - strangely enough - it might have been his best performance of the young season. He pitched very well at Fenway Park but is matched up tonight against the team that scored seven runs off him at Rangers Ballpark at Arlington last week. The Orioles ended up winning that game and the series in Texas, but Uehara can't be looking forward to facing that dangerous Rangers lineup again.
