Geraldine Weidemuller, Music Aficionado

Geraldine Weidemuller, a past Baltimore Opera Guild president, died of cancer April 12 at Gilchrist Hospice Care. The Guilford resident was 91.

Born Geraldine Wendler in Sewickley, Pa., she attended Sewickley Academy, Miss Thurston School for Girls and the Women's College of Pennsylvania.

She moved to Baltimore in 1945 after her marriage to John E. Weidemuller, a construction firm owner. Mrs. Weidemuller was past president of the Baltimore Opera Guild and had been a national board member of Opera Guilds International. She was also a past board member of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, the Women's Association of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Women's Board of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

She was a lifelong music aficionado and attended the old Baltimore Opera Company and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for many years. She was active in fundraising and development for these organizations, as well.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Second Presbyterian Church, 4200 St. Paul St., where she was a member.

Survivors include a son, John Weidemuller, and a daughter, Carol Fitzpatrick, both of Baltimore; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband of 65 years died in 2002.
