Concert Series Plans Season Finale

The UU Chalice Concert Series will present its final concert of the season, a solo performance by pianist Irene Kim, at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way. A student at the Peabody Conservatory, where she studies with Boris Sluts ky, Kim has performed in the United States, Canada and Spain.

Tickets, available at the door, are $20, $12 for students. Children to age 12 are admitted for free with a paying adult. Patron tickets are $27.

'Rain Barrel' session

The Columbia Association and Howard County Master Gardeners will offer a "Rain Barrel Workshop" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Oakland Mills Community Center at the Other Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center.

Discussion will cover the advantages to homeowners of installing a rain barrel, how to install and care for them, and village guidelines and approval processes.

Barrels will be available after the workshop for $50 (unpainted) or $65 (painted).

CJCCS open house

The Columbia Jewish Congregation Community School is holding an open house at 9 a.m. next Sunday at Oakland Mills High School, 9410 Kilimanjaro Road, Columbia.

Families can visit classrooms, meet staff and board members, and learn about the school's programs.

Singles social group

The Phoenix Cultural Singles Group, a Columbia social group for those 50 and older, meets from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Sundays at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Place in the Oakland Mills Village Center.

Coffee, tea and a light snack are served.
