Police are urging motorists and pedestrians to use caution on Route 100 near Marley Station mall after a number of large rocks were hurled at vehicles, including one that shattered a windshield, narrowly missing a driver. Since Friday, at least seven large white rocks have been thrown from the B&A Bike Trail overpass at vehicles traveling east on Route 100 just west of the Route 2 exit, Anne Arundel County police said. One of the rocks crashed through the windshield of a car and nearly hit the driver, police said. The majority of rocks were thrown after 10:30 p.m., police said. Police say that they are investigating but have not identified any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-222-8610.

Police fire Taser, subdue man at fire

Police shot a man with a Taser after he rushed at a burning house and blasted officers with a fire hose in Laurel on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. When two officers warned the man that he was too close to the one-story house in the 300 block of Park Hall South, he grew "belligerent" and started yelling, said Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy. The man grabbed a fire hose and doused the officers with water. One of the officers wrestled the hose away from him, and the man attacked the officer, Mulcahy said. The other officer fired a Taser to subdue the man, Mulcahy said. Police did not release the man's name. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
