Union Memorial in top 100

April 06, 2009

Union Memorial Hospital was named one of Thomson Reuters' 2008 top 100 hospitals, according to a ranking released by the information provider last week.

Thomson Reuters annually ranks 3,000 hospitals across the country based on mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, expenses, profitability, cash-to-debt ratio, patient satisfaction and adherence to clinical standards of care. Union Memorial was recognized in the teaching hospital category.

"Being recognized for surpassing national benchmarks is an achievement that every one of us at Union Memorial can be proud of," said hospital President Harrison J. Rider III. "We are constantly challenging ourselves, in each department, to find new ways to improve every aspect of what we do, and the recognition means we're being effective. ... It is truly a capstone to the hard work and dedication of all our associates and physicians."
