Schools closing for spring break

Anne Arundel County public schools will be closed Thursday through April 13 for Easter/Spring break.

Schools will re-open April 14.

AACC open house

Anne Arundel Community College will hold an open house for the noncredit, continuing education program in truck driving 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glen Burnie Town Center Arundel Center North, Room 420.

An "AACC Information Session" will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Center for Applied Learning and Technology, Room 107, 101 College Parkway, Arnold. District hearings

The School Board Nominating Commission of Anne Arundel County will hold district field hearings to solicit the public's opinion on education issues facing specific districts, the commission's process and procedures, and qualities necessary for a successful Board of Education candidate.

Meetings will be held at 7 p.m. as follows: Monday (District 30), Annapolis High School; April 21 (District 31), Northeast High School; April 27 (District 21), Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department hall.


Severn fundraiser

Severn School will hold a "KISS: (Keep It Simple Severn) Bounty from the Earth" adult social and auction fundraiser 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. April 18 at the school's Edward St. John Athletic Center, 201 Water St., Severna Park.

The event will be open to the public and feature a silent auction and Tuscan-style foods from Ken Upton, wine samplings, candles and the winner of the tuition raffle.

Tickets are $75.
