A Randallstown woman has been charged in the shooting outside a Mount Vernon nightclub this month that left one woman dead and two others injured.

Sharone Latrice Newton, 34, of the 3900 block of Lumo Road is charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Sctario Tia Edwards outside Coconuts Cafe in the 300 block of W. Madison St. on March 7.

According to charging documents, Brendi Simms, Sheray Belt and their friends were dancing in the nightclub when one of them bumped into Newton, sparking an argument. Newton left the club but returned in a dark sport utility vehicle at closing time and began attacking Simms, Belt and others with a pipe, the documents say.

During the fight, Newton retrieved a revolver from the SUV and started firing into the crowd, hitting Edwards, according to the documents. Simms was shot at least twice, police said, and Belt was shot in the head and torso.

Edwards was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died.

Newton is also charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree and attempted second-degree murder and weapons violations. She is being held, without bail, at the city jail.
