Musical 'Dreamcoat' at Mount Hebron High

Mount Hebron High School will present its spring musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, at 2 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the school's auditorium, 9440 Route 99, Ellicott City.

The production includes 70 high school students and 55 elementary and middle school children, who make up the chorus.

Events at St. Peter's

St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 3695 Rogers Ave., Ellicott City, will sponsor a musical presentation of the Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. Friday.

Nancy Stavely, music director at St. John's, Ellicott City, will perform selections from Marcel Dupre's Le Chemin de la Croix. The service will include readings and visual images for 14 stations; seven of them will be accompanied by music. A light Lenten supper will be served in the Parish Hall after the service.

St. Peter's will celebrate a Commemorative Jazz Mass, with music by the Ellington-Adderley African-American Community Jazz Ensemble, in commemoration of the Feast Day of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., which falls on the eve of Palm Sunday. The Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. April 4. Youth from fourth through 12th grades will participate. The ensemble is a project of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Kappa Phi Lambda Chapter of Columbia.

Annual car show

VFW Post 7472 will hold its annual car show from noon to 4 p.m. March 29 at 4225 VFW Lane, Ellicott City. Cars, trucks, antiques, military vehicles, street rods and motorcycles will be displayed.

Show vehicle registration will begin at 11 a.m. The car entry fee is $12. A VFW dash plaque will be given to the first 100 entries. Fifteen prizes will be awarded, including a "VFW Commander's Choice Award."

Food, beverages and music will be available. A 50/50 drawing will be held to benefit veterans programs.

Art Guild meeting

The Howard County Art Guild will meet at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City.

Artist Linda McCloskey will give a demonstration of encaustic painting.

'Cardio groove' : The Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road, Ellicott City, offers Cardio Groove Fitness, a low-impact class for ages 50 and older, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. SAT/PSAT : Registration is open for SAT/PSAT preparation courses to be offered from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. tomorrow and March 30, and April 20 and 27 at Mount Hebron High School. Chess : The Elkridge library, 6540 Washington Blvd., sponsors a chess club for ages 13 and older from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Players of all abilities are welcome, but they must know how to play. Snacks provided. 410-313-5077.

Lenten, Easter services : The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3604 Chatham Road, Ellicott City, offers Lenten worship at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, this week and April 1 and 8. The youth will serve a light supper of regional cuisine at 6:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Center. A freewill offering will be collected to cover food. A service of word and sacrament is planned at 7:30 p.m. April 9, Maundy Thursday. A Good Friday service is planned at 7:30 p.m. (There will not be a 2 p.m. service.) Needleworkers : The Miller branch library, 9421 Frederick Road, will hold a meeting of Pins and Needles, a group for those interested in stitching, knitting or crocheting projects, from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday.
