Six goals by Bel Air alum Dove lead Syracuse over Towson, 19-11

Junior Christina Dove (Bel Air) recorded a career-high eight points on six goals and two assists to lead Syracuse to a 19-11 victory over Towson at Johnny Unitas Stadium yesterday.

The win extended the No. 4 Orange's winning streak to three and improved its record to 6-1, while Towson dropped to 4-2.

Britt Woodfield's second goal of the contest gave Towson a 4-3 lead with 15:35 left in the first half. The Orange tied the score when Dove scored with 11:39 remaining. The goal sparked the Orange to a 9-0 scoring run to end the half. Dove had five goals and an assist during the run, and senior Bridget Looney added two goals and an assist, helping Syracuse to a 12-4 halftime lead.

Nikki Marcinik led Towson with four goals. Mary Teeters recorded 14 saves for the Tigers.

UMBC 20, IONA 6:: Senior midfielder Kara Dorr scored five goals and sophomore midfielder Amanda Pappas had her third hat trick of the season to lead the Retrievers (4-4) past the visiting Gaels (1-5).

CABRINI 19, COLLEGE OF NOTRE DAME 6:: The Cavaliers (1-2) scored the first 10 goals and cruised past the host Gators (0-5).

MCDANIEL 12, LYCOMING 11:: An early 4-0 run gave the Green Terror (4-3) the lead, and it held on against the host Warriors (2-3).


SALISBURY 15, COLORADO COLLEGE 2:: The Sea Gulls (8-0) extended their winning streak to 53 with a win over the Tigers (2-4) in Merritt Island, Fla.

STEVENSON 19, WOOSTER 3:: The host Mustangs (7-0) set a school record for most consecutive wins to begin a season with their victory over the Fighting Scots (3-3).
