Duke outlasts BC, 66-65

Gerald Henderson scored the go-ahead basket with 34.8 seconds remaining and No. 9 Duke held on for a 66-65 Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals victory over Boston College last night in Atlanta.

Rakim Sanders missed a last-second three-pointer for Boston College (22-11). Duke (26-6) will play Maryland today.

No. 1 North Carolina 79, Virginia Tech 76: : Tyler Hansbrough scored 28 and made a disputed defensive stop in the final seconds as the Tar Heels (28-3) avoided an upset against the Hokies (18-14) in the ACC tournament. North Carolina won without guard Ty Lawson, who sat out with an injured toe.

No. 22 Florida State 64, Georgia Tech 62: : Derwin Kitchen made a go-ahead layup with 7.7 seconds left and the Seminoles (24-8) beat the Yellow Jackets (12-19). Florida State will play North Carolina today.

Other conferences

Patriot League final: : American (24-7) is headed to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row after beating Holy Cross (18-14), 73-57, in Washington.

Big East semifinals: : Less than 24 hours after winning the second-longest Division I game, Syracuse (26-8) beat West Virginia (23-11) in overtime, 74-69, in New York. A night earlier, the Orange beat Connecticut, 127-117, in six overtimes. ... Earl Clark scored 17 and No. 5 Louisville (27-5) won, 69-55, over No. 10 Villanova (26-7).

Big 12 semifinals: : Zaire Taylor scored a season-high 19 as No. 14 Missouri beat Oklahoma State, 67-59, in Oklahoma City. ... LaceDarius Dunn hit a go-ahead three-pointer and Baylor (20-13) ended a 24-game losing streak against Texas (22-11) with a 76-70 victory.

Atlantic 10 semifinals: : Dionte Christmas scored 20 points and defending champion Temple (21-11) won, 55-53, over No. 19 Xavier (25-7) in Atlantic City, N.J.

Conference USA semifinals: : Robert Dozier scored 16 and No. 4 Memphis (30-3), playing at home, became the first Division I program to win 30 games in four straight seasons with a 74-49 win over Houston (21-11). ... Ray Reese had 17 points and six assists to lead Tulsa (24-9) to a 70-67 win over Alabama-Birmingham (22-11).

Big Ten quarterfinals: : Chris Allen scored 17 and No. 7 Michigan State (26-5) won, 64-56, over Minnesota (22-10) in Indianapolis. ... Evan Turner scored 19 and Ohio State (21-9) prevailed, 61-57, against Wisconsin (19-12). ... Mike Davis had 22 points and 10 rebounds, leading Illinois (24-8) to a 60-50 win Michigan (20-13).

Southeastern Conference quarterfinals: : Korvotney Barber had a dunk in the final minute to help Auburn (22-10) beat Florida (23-10), 61-58, in Tampa, Fla. ... Drexel 53, Towson 48: : TheDragons (22-8) beat the Tigers (17-13), who received 25 points from Shanae Baker-Brice in a Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinal in Harrisonburg, Va.

Binghamton 66, UMBC 54: : Freshman Michelle Kurowski scored 23, but the Retrievers (14-16) lost to the Bearcats (14-16) in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament in West Hartford, Conn.

North Carolina A&T 74, UMES 56: : The Aggies (25-6) beat the Lady Hawks (15-14) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference semifinal in Winston Salem, N.C. April McBride scored 14 for UMES.
