Reggie Holmes scored 18 points and top seed Morgan State rolled to a 71-41 win over Florida A&M (10-21) last night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Seeking their first MEAC championship since 1977, the Bears (21-11) advanced to tomorrow's semifinals, where they will face the winner of today's Coppin State-North Carolina A&T quarterfinal.

Holmes made seven of 17 from the field and recorded nine rebounds. Jermaine "Itchy" Bolden scored 12 points and had six assists, while Marquise Kately added 10 points for the Bears.

Bethune-Cookman 52, UMES 47: : Chris Conner led the Hawks (7-23) with 13 points, but they shot only 29.5 percent from the field as C.J. Reed scored 22 points to assure the eighth-seeded Wildcats their first winning record (17-15) since they moved to Division I in 1989.


Florida A&M 64, Coppin State 43: : Senior Danielle Anders scored 17 points for the Eagles and Sesalie Johnson added 10, but Deidra Jones scored 21 points and the seventh-seeded Rattlers (13-16) outscored the Eagles (14-14) 44-19 in the second half.
