Jazz beats Pacers for 12th win in row

Mehmet Okur scored 24 points and the Utah Jazz beat the host Indiana Pacers, 112-100, last night for its 12th straight victory. Paul Millsap finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, Ronnie Brewer scored 18 points and Deron Williams had 12 assists for the Jazz (41-23), which moved closer to the franchise record of 15 consecutive victories. Troy Murphy hit seven three-pointers and scored 23 for Indiana (28-38).

Other results: : Tim Duncan had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and the host Spurs (43-20) beat the Bobcats (28-36), 100-86, stopping their franchise-record winning streak at six. ... Nate Robinson scored 10 of his 32 points in the final five minutes, helping the Knicks (26-37) top the Bucks (30-37), 120-112, for a rare road win.

Stern: : Commissioner David Stern said the NBA and union might have to make "some adjustments" to the labor contract when it expires in two years, but he foresees no "doomsday scenario" for the league because of the current economic crisis. Trail Blazers-Lakers: : Blazers forward Rudy Fernandez was released from a Portland hospital yesterday after spending the night because of a hard foul he took against the Lakers' Trevor Ariza. Fernandez suffered a bruised chest and a right hip pointer after he was fouled on a fast break by Ariza late in the third quarter of Portland's 111-94 victory Monday night. Ariza was ejected. The foul led to a brief skirmish between the teams. NBA officials yesterday suspended Lakers forward Lamar Odom one game without pay for leaving the bench area.

Mussina: 'It feels good being retired'

Mike Mussina is enjoying retirement and has no desire to pitch again. The former Orioles and Yankees pitcher, on vacation with his family in Tampa, Fla., visited old teammates before New York's game last night with the Cincinnati Reds. "No itch," Mussina, 40, said. "It feels good being retired."

Clemens: : Federal authorities have found performance-enhancing substances on the materials Brian McNamee said he used to inject Roger Clemens, The New York Times reported yesterday. Clemens has said repeatedly that McNamee, his former personal trainer, injected him with B-12 and a painkiller.
