Nathan Kraisser Centennial, wrestling

Freshman Nathan Kraisser did what no one else did in Class 4A-3A at the state tournament, pinning his competition in the first three rounds - in 0:48, 4:00 and 2:36, respectively - and then winning the 103-pound title with a 12-0 major-decision shutout. Kraisser is ranked ninth nationally in the 103 class among freshmen and sophomores and 11th overall. His season record is 36-1, and his grade-point average is 3.71.

Keirah Hicks

Western, basketball

Keirah Hicks, a 5-foot-6 senior guard, scored all of her 16 points in the second half to help the No. 3 Doves to a 56-40 win over No. 8 Catonsville and a berth in the state Class 3A final four. She finished the week with 66 points, 12 assists and 13 steals in regional playoff wins over Milford Mill, Dundalk and Catonsville. This is her first trip to the state tournament as a Dove, but Hicks, who averages 12.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2.6 steals, played in the state Class 1A final as a freshman at Southside before transferring to Western as a junior. She has a "B" average and plans to play basketball in college.
