Ashes to Ashes: : In the premiere of this new series - a follow-up to BBC's original Life on Mars - DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes) is shot and lands in 1981, coming face to face with Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister), the relic of old-fashioned policing she had read about in Sam Tyler's reports. (9 p.m., BBC America)

A Night at the Opera: : Alec Baldwin joins Robert Osborne as co-host of "The Essentials," which starts a new season with this 1935 Marx Brothers classic. (8 p.m., TCM)

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: : Harry, Ron and Hermione are back at Hogwarts for another semester and another encounter with unimaginable evil. (8 p.m., ABC Family)

Bound by a Secret: : When a soap opera actress is diagnosed with a terminal illness, she believes it's time to tell the daughter (Bridget Ann White) of her best friend (Meredith Baxter) a long-held secret about her real parentage in this new tear-jerker. (9 p.m., Hallmark)
