Two men charged in Howard robbery

Two men were arrested Wednesday night after a chase by car and on foot that began minutes after an Ellicott City pizza restaurant was robbed at gunpoint, Howard County police said. Jamal Brown, 18, of the 3500 block of Court House Drive in Ellicott City and Omar Black, 18, of the 1700 block of Belle Drive in Annapolis were charged with armed robbery, assault and theft in the incident shortly after 9 p.m. at Ledo's Pizza on Baltimore National Pike, county police said yesterday. According to police, two men wearing masks entered the restaurant and one brandished a gun. They ordered the seven employees to the floor and demanded money. They fled after an employee gave them an undisclosed amount of cash. Two employees followed the pair outside and saw them get into a white Cadillac Escalade, police said. Officers tried to stop a car matching the description at North Ridge Road and Baltimore National Pike, but the driver did not stop. Police said two men were caught after attempting to flee on foot in the 8300 block of Court Ave. in Ellicott City. No one was injured in the robbery or the pursuit. Both men were being held without bond in the Howard County Detention Center, police said yesterday.
