Scott Mantua River Hill, wrestling

Mantua, who wrapped up his second regional title last weekend at the Class 2A-1A South tournament, will set his sights on winning his third state crown this weekend. At the regionals, the 112-pound senior won three bouts - with a 59-second pin, an 8-1 decision and a 16-7 major decision. Mantua is 46-1 this season, 115-4 for his career and has won 61 of his past 62 matches. He has a 3.78 grade-point average.

Sheronne Vails Arundel, basketball

The 6-foot-4 forward led the No. 5 Wildcats in two strong efforts last week, including their seventh straight Anne Arundel County championship. The All-Metro junior had 15 points and nine rebounds in the 70-36 title victory over Old Mill. She also had 19 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks in a 65-46 loss to Riverdale Baptist, The Washington Post's No. 1 girls basketball team. Vails, who plays Amateur Athletic Union basketball with the Fairfax (Va.) Stars, has a 3.4 grade-point average and has narrowed her college options to Duke, Connecticut, Georgia and Louisville.
