Health group talks about race

The THRIVE Center, a multidisciplinary health care center specializing in diagnosis and treatment of emotional conditions, will sponsor a community conversation, "Our Communications About Race."

The event, moderated by county Human Rights Administrator C. Vernon Gray, will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Voyages Art Gallery at THRIVE, Suite 530, 30 Corporate Center, 10440 Little Patuxent Parkway.

Hosts will be THRIVE's owners, Dr. Rick Silver and Rose Cohen.

Celebration at Beth Shalom

Beth Shalom Congregation, 8070 Harriet Tubman Way, will hold a Purim celebration at 7 p.m. March 9. Included are the synagogue's annual Tot Purim Funfest, Silly Symphony and Megillah reading. Music from the 1960s to the 1990s will include a guest appearance. Admission is free.

A teen storytelling program with veteran storyteller Penninah Schram is scheduled at 3 p.m. March 15 at Beth Shalom. Admission is free, but reservations are requested.
