A.J. Abrams scored 18 of Texas' final 20 points last night, leading the host Longhorns to a 73-68 upset of No. 2 Oklahoma (25-2, 11-1 Big 12), which had to play most of the game without leading scorer and rebounder Blake Griffin after he suffered a concussion in the first half.
Abrams scored 16 in a row in the final eight minutes, hitting four three-pointers, then capped the scoring with two free throws with four seconds to play. He finished with 23 points for the Longhorns (18-8, 7-5).
Griffin, the Big 12's leading scorer and leading rebounder, played just 11 minutes and left for good with about four minutes left in the first half, finishing with two points and three rebounds. Griffin appeared to take a blow to the face when he tried to spin for a baseline shot.
No. 1 Connecticut 64, South Florida 50: : Hasheem Thabeet had 21 points and nine rebounds as the Huskies bounced back from their second loss of the season with a victory over the Bulls (8-18, 3-11 Big East) at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
A.J. Price had 11 points, and Jeff Adrien had nine points and 15 rebounds for Connecticut (25-2, 13-2), which reached the 25-win mark for the 11th time in the past 20 seasons.
No. 4 Pittsburgh 80, DePaul 61: : DeJuan Blair out-muscled the Blue Demons (8-19, 0-14 Big East) inside for 20 points and 18 rebounds while setting the Panthers' two-game record for rebounds, and host Pittsburgh (25-2, 12-2) pulled away early in the second half for a victory.
No. 5 Memphis 70, Texas-El Paso 63: : Tyreke Evans scored 25 points to lead the Tigers (24-3, 12-0) over the host Miners (16-10, 7-5), extending the nation's longest winning streak to 18 games with the 53rd consecutive Conference USA win for Memphis.
No. 7 Louisville 72, Cincinnati 63: : Terrence Williams scored 20 points, and the visiting Cardinals dominated up front in a victory over the Bearcats (17-10, 7-7 Big East).
Louisville (21-5, 12-2) has won three in a row.
No. 10 Marquette 78, Georgetown 72: : The Golden Eagles (23-4, 12-2 Big East) got 23 points from Wesley Matthews to open the brutal homestretch of their regular-season schedule with a victory over the host Hoyas (14-11, 5-9).
Matthews was 9-for-16 from the field, including a career-high five three-pointers on eight attempts.
No. 11 Missouri 66, Colorado 53: : Leo Lyons scored 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Tigers over the host Buffaloes (9-17, 1-11 Big 12).
