Western Baltimore

Victim identified Yesterday, police released the name of the man shot Feb. 10 in the 2100 block of Presbury St., near South Smallwood Street, and died a short time later at a hospital. District officers responding to a report of shots fired on the street about 9 p.m. found the victim, Barakaat Faruq, 20, of the 900 Bennett Place, lying in the street bleeding from at least one gunshot wound to the head. Police said Faruq was taken by a City Fire Department ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later. Metro Crime Stoppers, 410-276-8888, is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and an indictment.

Southeastern Baltimore

Stolen vehicle A silver-colored 2000 Nissan Altima with tags LWH 407 was stolen Sunday in the 100 block of S. High St.

Theft Someone entered a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the 2600 block of Boston St. on Saturday or Sunday after breaking a window and stole identification and several credit cards.

Stolen vehicle A black 2008 Toyota Yaris with tags 7EL 032 was parked Sunday in the 1000 block of Eastern Ave. with its engine running when someone stole it. The owner was given a citation charging her with leaving an unoccupied motor vehicle parked with its engine running.

Theft A navigational system and an iPod, all valued at $430, were stolen over the weekend from a 2006 Nissan parked in the 2400 block of Boston St.

Theft A navigational system, keys, a cell phone and its charger, all valued at $200, were stolen Saturday or Sunday from a 1999 Lincoln Navigator parked in the 2700 block of O'Donnell St.

Eastern Baltimore

Stolen vehicle Police continue to seek a 2007 Toyota Camry with tags 070G1CA that was stolen Friday in the 1600 block of Madison St.

Baltimore County - Pikesville

Burglary/attempted rape Police were seeking a man who broke into a house in the 3700 block of Sylvan Road about 1 a.m. Sunday and then entered the bedroom of a woman who was sleeping and held her down while attempting to rape her. The victim's housemate, who was in another bedroom, heard the woman cry out and ordered the man from the house. The victim was not injured. Anyone with information is asked to call the precinct at 410-887-1279.
