Greene leads Retrievers to 3rd win in row

UMBC 80, Hartford 63 -Senior guard Jay Greene continued his torrid week, leading four Retrievers in double figures with 22 points as UMBC won its third straight, over host Hartford.

Darryl Proctor added 20 points, and Chauncey Gilliam (Hammond) scored 18 as UMBC (12-13, 6-7 America East) won for the first time after five losses at Hartford (6-21, 2-11).

Greene hit five of six three-point attempts and seven of nine from the free-throw line, following up his 36 points in a win over New Hampshire on Tuesday.

The Retrievers took control with a 13-2 run to lead 50-35 with 14:40 remaining in the game. The Hawks cut the deficit to nine on two occasions, but Greene's long three with 7:44 to play restored the lead to 14 points, and the advantage remained in double figures the rest of the way.
