Albany 80, UMBC 71 - UMBC's Chauncey Gilliam had 18 points and six rebounds, but the Retrievers lost yesterday to host Albany.

Tim Ambrose scored 26 points for the Great Danes (12-8, 4-3 America East), shooting 10-for-14 from the field and making five of six free throws. Will Harris added 20, and Brian Connelly had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The lead changed 12 times. Albany led 44-36 at the half.

Gilliam made all eight of his free throws. Jay Greene scored 16 and Darryl Proctor had 15 for the Retrievers (8-11, 2-5).

UMBC made 19 of 22 from the foul line but shot just 2-for-13 (15.4 percent) from three-point range.

The Great Danes had a 35-22 advantage on the boards.
