Tax return assistance at activity centers

Seniors can receive help completing their federal and state income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), Feb. 2 through April 3, at all seven of the county's senior activity centers.

VITA, a free service, is available by appointment. Senior centers will accept appointments starting tomorrow.

Volunteers trained by the Internal Revenue Service will be available to assist with simple returns. They cannot help with rental property, business returns (except Business EZ forms), partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, more than five stock trades, or returns for those who are self-employed.

E-filing will be available.
