First Tee program taking applications

The First Tee of Howard County is accepting applications for its ninth year of youth golf programs. Spaces are available in indoor, spring and summer sessions. This year, The First Tee will offer an indoor session in February for ages 9 and older.

Applications and schedules are available at Fairway Hills Golf Club, by e-mailing Info@TheFirstTeeHowardCounty.org or at TheFirstTeeHowardCounty.org.

The program, part of an international organization and based in Howard County at the Fairway Hills Golf Club, strives to improve the lives of young people, ages 5-17, by teaching life skills and character development through golf.

See 'City Lights'

Slayton House Theatre in the Wilde Lake Village Center will show the fifth film in its 17th season of "Marvelous Movies and More," the 1931 silent comedy City Lights, written and directed by Charlie Chaplin, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Film critic Mike Giuliano will lead a short discussion after the film. Dessert and coffee will be provided.

The cost is $7; $6 for seniors and students. Raffle prizes will be offered. A senior events shuttle is available.

'Enchanted' screening : The Central Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, will hold a family movie night at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The film will be Enchanted. Refreshments are provided and registration is not needed. 410-313-7860.

Mah-jongg : Players 18 and older are invited to Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center for mah-jongg at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Admission is free. 410-730-3987. :
