Man believed responsible for eight bank robberies
Baltimore County police are asking the public's help in identifying a suspect they think is responsible for eight bank robberies since June. The most recent robbery was at 11 a.m. Jan 17 at Provident Bank in a Shoppers food store in the 11100 block of Reisterstown Road. The man is a suspect in these robberies: June 14 and Nov. 15, Chevy Chase Bank in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave.; June 21, Provident Bank in the 5400 block of Baltimore National Pike; Aug. 12, Provident Bank in the 3800 block of E. Lombard St.; Aug. 21, Provident Bank inside the Reisterstown Road Shoppers food store that was also robbed last week; Nov. 30, Provident Bank inside the Shoppers food store in the 800 block of Goucher Blvd.; and Jan. 15, SunTrust Bank in the 100 block of E. Baltimore St. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to Call Baltimore County police at 410-307-2020, or Metro Crime Stoppers at 866-7LOCKUP.

Guilford Avenue lane to be closed today

A temporary lane closure along a portion of Guilford Avenue is planned from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today for a crane operation, according to city transportation officials. The far right lane will be closed from Bath Street to Pleasant Street, as work crews repair a sign on a building.
Man charged with murder in death of 2-year-old

A 36-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a 2-year-old boy died of head injuries, Annapolis police said. According to police, William Warren Boyd of the 400 block of Captains Circle, Annapolis, was watching his girlfriend's nephew, Cyrus L. Besche, on Dec. 7, when he threw the child on a sofa, causing him to lose consciousness. The boy was taken to a hospital, where doctors discovered that he had suffered severe head trauma, police said. He died three days later. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide and found that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the brain, police said. Boyd was arrested Thursday evening, police said. He is being held at the county detention center without bail.
