To Our Readers.

January 18, 2009

This edition of The Sun.

In 1861, The Sun reported to the citizens of Baltimore the occasion of Abraham Lincoln's planned train trip through our city on his way to Washington to assume the presidency. When we learned by dispatch that President-Elect Obama planned to re-create the Lincoln route to Washington, the editors of The Sun thought it prudent that giving the citizens of our city a glimpse into The Sun's coverage in 1861 would be an appropriate homage, not only to Lincoln and President-Elect Obama, but to The Sun's 171-year history as a newspaper.
