January 14, 2009

Sean Roddy Loyola, swimming

Roddy became an instant All-American in two events, earned possible qualification in a third and along the way broke a 21-year-old Loyola record during a meet Saturday against Mercersburg Academy at Loyola. Roddy won the 200 individual medley in an All-America automatic time of 1 minute, 53.81 seconds, won the 100 breaststroke in an All-America automatic time of 57.41 and then anchored the 400 freestyle relay in an All-America consideration time of 3:12.84. If the 400 FS time is among the 40 best in the country at the end of the year, Roddy will be an All-American in all three events. The senior has a 3.7 grade-point average and will attend LSU on athletic and academic scholarships next year.
