Winter Farmers' Market opens today in Annapolis

The Winter Farmers' Market will open today at Westfield Annapolis Mall on the first level of the Nordstrom parking garage off the Bestgate Road entrance.

The market will be open 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Sundays through April 26.

Chamber January events

Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce announced its monthly activities for January.

The South County festival meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. at the Chamber office, 5503 Muddy Creek Road, Churchton, to discuss this year's festival.

A Business After-Hours Mixer will be held at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Skipper's Pier Restaurant and Dock Bar, 6158 Drum Point Road, Deale. The cost is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. RSVP by Friday.

A Business Breakfast-Health Care Seminar presented by Health Care for All (Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative) will be held 7:30 a.m. Jan. 22 at the South County Cafe, 5960 Deale-Churchton Road, Deale. The cost is $15. RSVP by Friday.

Heritage chair retires

June Hall, Chair of the Shady Side Rural Heritage Society for the past seven years, retired on Dec. 31, 2008.

Susy Smith will serve as Chair of Shady Side Rural Heritage until June. Smith has held numerous executive level positions in both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.

Tech council events

Chesapeake Regional Tech Council will hold an InfoMixer Networking event 7:30 a.m. Jan. 21 at Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., Multimedia Conference Room, Second Floor, 2660 Riva Road, Annapolis

During breakfast, member Chris Hopkinson spotlights DubMeNow, a technology company that offers ways to communicate, network and exchange information.

The cost is $10 in advance for members, $15 at the door; $20 for nonmembers.

Legislative mixer slated

The West Anne Arundel County, Northern Anne Arundel, Severna Park and Crofton chambers of commerce will hold a multi-chamber legislative mixer at 6 p.m. Thursday at Madison Interiors, 8258 Telegraph Road, Odenton.

Local delegates and council members will be available to speak with attendees.

Food and beverages will be provided.

The cost is $10 for chamber members, $15 for nonmembers and at the door.

The Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce announced its monthly activities for January.

A Regional Workforce Solutions Seminar on "Top Strategies for Employee Retention in a Dynamic Economy" will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday at UMUC Dorsey Station Road Campus, 6865 Deerpath Road, Elkridge. Topics include why each generation thinks and behaves the way it does, and key strategies for retaining each generation.
