Farm business plans : The Howard County Economic Development Authority's Agricultural Marketing Program will sponsor a seminar, "Writing Your Own Farm Business Plan," from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Howard County Extension Office, 3525-L Ellicott Mills Drive, Ellicott City. SCORE counselors Peter Surana and Joseph Babinski will present. Registration is $80 and includes materials and a box lunch. Space is limited. 410-313-6550.

Job skills: Family and Children's Services of Central Maryland is offering a program to help senior citizens learn job skills while working 20 hours a week with nonprofit groups. Participants must meet income requirements. Cheryl Ladota, 410-366-1980, ext. 272.

Chamber Web site : Howard County Chamber of Commerce has launched a Web site that offers easier access to the member directory, calendar of events and committee pages, where visitors can gain access to see chamber policies. The members-only section offers secure account access and event registration. New sections for the Young Professionals Network, a chamber initiative, and the Awards for Chamber Excellence Hall of Fame are included. New members now appear on the home page, and a link offers access to the "Chamber Weekly" e-mail newsletter and banner ads for small-business owners. The site, www.howardchamber.com, is expected to increase the number of visits to the member directory, which was searched more than 1.7 million times last year, according to a chamber news release.

Software tutoring: Howard County Public Library is offering one-on-one tutoring in job- or business-related software. Tutoring in Open Office, a free, fully functioning software package that includes spreadsheets, presentations and pictures, is offered for teens and adults at all branches. Appointments are required. A tour of job-related databases, Web sites, periodicals and the library's business and career sections is available at the Central Library. 410-313-7850.
