Payne, Severn girls defeat John Carroll

Aura Payne had 11 points, eight steals and six assists as No. 12 Severn jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead en route to a 61-44 win over visiting John Carroll yesterday.

Payne scored nine points in the first half as the Admirals (9-1) took control of the game early.

Severn's Leanne Hug led all scorers with 15 points and added five rebounds.

GLENELG COUNTRY SCHOOL 70, KEY 24: : Ashley Dolgoff scored a career-high 34 points as the Dragons (4-3) defeated the visiting Obezags.

Dolgoff's 34 points broke her school record of 33, set this season against Mount Carmel.

ST. MARY'S 45, MOUNT DE SALES 42:: Katie Bollhorst's layup with less than a minute to play gave the Saints (8-4) the lead, and they held on to defeat the visiting Sailors.

Boys

No. 7 MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 74, ST. MARIA GORETTI 50:: Riley Beaumont led all scorers with 21 points as the Gaels (13-4) defeated the visiting Gaels.

Gerald Hill added 20 points for Mount St. Joseph.

OLD MILL 87, RANDALLSTOWN 71:: Mike Holley and Chris Day each scored 22 points as the Patriots (8-1) defeated the visiting Rams.

Chaz Sharp had 21 points for Randallstown.

BETH TFILOH 60, PARK 54:: Aaron Gillette scored 13 of his 21 points in the second half as the Warriors (4-5) came back from five points down to defeat the visiting Bruins.

Karl Nelson had 21 points for Park.
