A man delivering food in East Baltimore late Saturday was shot multiple times during a robbery, police said.

Police said the man was making a delivery in the 800 block of Webb Court when he was approached by a gunman, robbed and shot in the upper torso. Police were called to the scene at 11:50 p.m. The 51-year-old victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was in critical condition yesterday.

Police spokesman Donny Moses said that the man's name and the name of his business were being withheld to protect his privacy. Moses said the victim was the owner of the store for which he was delivering.

A woman who lives on Webb Court, which is south of Eager Street, said she heard five gunshots and looked out her window to see the victim leaning against his sport utility vehicle, which was parked on Homewood Avenue. The woman, who declined to give her name because of concerns for her safety, said the man slumped to the road and that she called 911.

Police had no suspects, Moses said.
