Barney, a two-time first-team Sun All-Metro player who came into the game yesterday averaging 14.3 points, was 3-for-4 from three-point range and hit eight of nine from the foul line.
NO. 4 OKLAHOMA 93, COPPIN STATE 62: : The host Sooners were looking for a fast start against the Eagles, and Tony Crocker was more than happy to provide it.
The junior guard scored 15 of his team-high 20 points in the opening half, helping Oklahoma (13-1) roll. Four days earlier at Arkansas, the Sooners lost for the first time when they fell behind 21-8 early and trailed by 25 before mounting a frantic comeback.
Although Coppin State (2-11) did not figure to present a challenge for Oklahoma, Sooners coach Jeff Capel was adamant about his team opening the game with more energy.
"We definitely wanted to get off to a good start - play with a sense of urgency. I thought we did that today," said Capel, whose team opened with an 11-2 run and never trailed.
The Eagles were led by Tywain McKee with 20 points. Despite also getting 16 points from Brian Chesnut and 13 from Michael Harper, Coppin State shot just 36 percent from the field.
The Eagles used a 10-4 run to cut their deficit to 38-23 with just more than three minutes left in the first half, but that's as close as they would get. The Sooners closed the half on a 7-0 run and dominated the rest of the way, leading by 33 in the second half.
NEBRASKA 88, UMES 56: : Ade Dagunduro scored 18 points and the host Cornhuskers (9-3) opened the second half with a 13-4 run to put away the Hawks (1-8).
Nebraska enjoyed a season high in points, hitting 61 percent of its shots.
UMES was the 12th Cornhuskers opponent to be held to 66 points or fewer this season. The Hawks hit just 41 percent of their shots.
The Huskers' defense forced 16 turnovers, 12 of them steals. Those turnovers led to 23 points.
Nebraska led 40-28 at the half and put the game out of reach with a 13-4 spurt opening the second, capped by Brandon Richardson's three-pointer from the corner that made the score 53-32 with 14:47 remaining.
Women
MORGAN STATE 56, COPPIN STATE 53: : Erin Hawkins made two three-pointers in the final two minutes to lift the host Bears (9-3, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) over the Eagles (1-10, 0-1).
Whitney Cunningham (14 points) made four free throws and Sesalie Johnson hit a layup for a 53-50 Coppin advantage. Hawkins, who finished with 14 points, made the deciding shot with 1:10 left.
Corin Adams had 21 points for the Bears.
KENT STATE 77, UMES 47: : The host Golden Flashes (11-1) - paced by Jena Stutzman with 20 points - led by 33 points en route to the victory.
Casey Morton scored 15 points and April McBride had 11 for the Hawks (2-7).
WIDENER 74, MCDANIEL 54: : Ali Moreland and Whitney Snoops each scored 11 points in a losing effort for the visiting Green Terror (4-4).
Becky Tyler had 20 points for the Pioneers (8-4).
