4 chambers of commerce holding a legislative mixer

The West Anne Arundel County, Northern Anne Arundel, Severna Park and Crofton chambers of commerce will hold a multichamber Legislative Mixer at 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at Madison Interiors, 8258 Telegraph Road, Odenton.

Local delegates and council members will be available to speak with attendees.

Food and beverages will be provided.

The cost is $10 for chamber members, $15 for nonmembers and at the door.

Dance Fitness for teens, adults offered at five schools

Bio-Aerobics Inc. and the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department will hold registration for Dance Fitness classes for adults and teens beginning the week of Jan. 12.

Classes will be held at Lindale Middle School, High Point Elementary School, Chesapeake Bay Middle School, Linthicum Elementary School and Belle Grove Elementary School.

The classes are twice a week for eight weeks and cost $68.

Count chamber plans mixer and legislative breakfast

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business Mixer and networking event at 5:30 p.m. Thursday , at Historic Inns of Annapolis, Governor Calvert House, Annapolis.

The cost is $15 in advance for members; $20 at the door; $35 for nonmembers.

The chamber will also hold a Legislative Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 15 at O'Callaghan Hotel, 174 West St., Annapolis.

Attendees will learn about the chamber's legislative positions, meet 2009 legislators and hear their perspectives on issues facing state, county and city governments. Guest speaker will be House Speaker Michael E. Busch.

The cost is $35 in advance for members, $40 at the door.

Bank of Glen Burnie parent declares dividend and bonus

Glen Burnie Bancorp announced that its board of directors declared a regular dividend of 10 cents per share of common stock and a bonus dividend of five cents per share.

The regular dividend is payable Friday and the bonus dividend is payable Jan. 12 to shareholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 29.

This marks Glen Burnie Bancorp's 65th consecutive dividend and the eighth consecutive year-end bonus dividend by the holding company for the Bank of Glen Burnie.

BW Corridor Chamber schedules January events

The Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce announced its monthly activities for January 2009.

A "Membership 101" meeting for business professionals in the Baltimore/Washington Corridor at 9 a.m. Thursday at the BWCC office, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel. Free for members and nonmembers.

Women in Business Breakfast meeting at 8:15 a.m., Friday . Ellen Christian of The Kane Company will do a presentation on "Networking and Sales Tips." The cost is $25 in advance for members, $40 at the door.

Regional Workforce Solutions Seminar on "Top Strategies for Employee Retention in a Dynamic Economy" at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 15 at UMUC Dorsey Station Road Campus, 6865 Deerpath Road, Elkridge. Topics include why each generation thinks and behaves the way it does, and key strategies for retaining each generation. The cost is $49 in advance for members, $79 at the door and for nonmembers.

Active, retired U.S. employees to meet at Holy Trinity

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1519 will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Jan. 13 at Holy Trinity Church Hall, 7438 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie.

The scheduled speaker is Carol Baker, PhD, director of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Active and retired federal workers can learn about membership and become informed about issues from the state and federal levels relevant to federal workers.

Regional Tech Council seeks nominees for awards

Chesapeake Regional Tech Council is planning "TechAwards 2009," a celebration of regional technological innovation and excellence, and is asking for participation and nominations.
