West/Rhode Riverkeeper recently received a $6,000 donation from the Chesapeake Environmental Protection Association board of trustees for restoration work in the West River Watershed.
The Riverkeeper had received a grant earlier in the year for restoration projects, including a comprehensive watershed assessment and two storm water retention areas intended to treat runoff.
The most recent donation will help the Riverkeeper in its efforts to reduce pollution going into the West River, said Riverkeeper Chris Trumbauer. The group's goal is to provide healthy, safe rivers and streams for all citizens.
CEPA received the grant funds from the dissolution of the West River Federation, a group formed in the 1980s to oppose inappropriate development around West River.
