Open receiver: Ex-Bear bares all

The Flip Side

Former Morgan State tight end Visanthe Shiancoe became a bit of a media sensation Dec. 7 when Fox's cameras caught him momentarily uncovered in the background while filming owner Zygi Wilf's post-game presentation of a game ball in the Minnesota Vikings locker room.

Shiancoe seemed to take the hubbub in good humor. When asked about his overexposure by a columnist for the Minneapolis Star Tribune - a female columnist, by the way - Shiancoe responded by asking, "How'd it look?"

When Shiancoe went on Dan Patrick's radio show last week, he laughed at Patrick's suggestion that the player's new nickname should be "The Junk Man."

And Shiancoe didn't even correct Patrick when the host kept calling him "Vincente."

Finally, perhaps this was predictable, but someone from the adult film industry jumped in to offer Shiancoe a job in the movies.

"From what we've seen, there is definitely a career for Visanthe in the adult industry, if he'd like one," said Tony Santoro, general manager of the Black Ice studio. "We would welcome an opportunity to align ourselves with a world-class athlete of Visanthe's stature."

This last item ran at deadspin.com under the headline, "Zack and Shiancoe Make a Porno."

Earning their stripes

The Las Vegas Wranglers minor league hockey team has decided to pay tribute to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich - who is in a bit of hot water, you might have heard - by wearing prison-style, black-and-white-striped jerseys for their Jan. 30 game.

Just a suggestion, but maybe the Wranglers could also give away Senate seats to the first 1,000 fans.

Photos of Dwyane Wade's former home in Miami have surfaced on the Web. Among the understated touches - perhaps what helped make it sell last year - are a charcoal drawing of the Miami Heat star on a wall in the foyer and a pool that features Wade's No. 3 and his "Flash" nickname on the bottom. Plus, there is a cute, Spider-Man-themed bathroom for his son.

Rock the vote

The SimonOnSports blog checked into the ballots of those voting in the Harris college football poll, which is a component of the Bowl Championship Series standings. It found that Larry Keech, a former sportswriter in North Carolina, had a most, uh, interesting set of rankings. His top five: Utah, Boise State, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida.

And the nation waits for a national championship game between the Utes and Broncos.
