Up a creek: Some Anne Arundel County residents say Fox Creek should be dredged to improve water quality and give boaters access from the Severn River. Other residents, and some environmentalists, oppose the plan. A panel that includes Gov. Martin O'Malley has been asked to decide the matter.

Right to vote: Like other members of the Harford County school board, D.J. Sigworth takes in hours of policy debates and PowerPoint presentations. But when the talking is done, Sigworth, the board's student member, cannot vote. The Fallston High School senior and a group of students are working to change that.

Train station: Three men put in a combined 750 hours to produce the 25th edition of the holiday model train display at the B&O Railroad Museum's Ellicott City Station. The presentation, which includes a new Thomas the Tank Engine display, is open for business Wednesday through Sunday.
