City, Balto. Co. police probe separate deaths

Baltimore City and Baltimore County police were investigating separate deaths. County police said they found the body of an unidentified man in a parked vehicle at Sparks Valley and York roads in Hunt Valley about 3 p.m. yesterday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police are calling the death suspicious. In the city, an unidentified man was shot in the head in the 2800 block of Saint Lo Drive, near Lake Clifton High School, about 6:30 p.m. yesterday, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene; investigators have no suspects or motive.

Pvt. Barnett's funeral set Saturday; he died in Iraq

Services for Army Pvt. Charles Yi Barnett, a 19-year-old Harford County resident who died in Iraq on Nov. 20, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 MacPhail Road in Bel Air. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 811 Rock Spring Road. Barnett was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, which is based at Fort Hood, Texas. He was killed in a noncombat incident that remains under investigation, authorities said yesterday.

Maryland launches a problem-solver Web site

State officials have launched a Web site that they say provides access to resources on services ranging from heating and energy assistance to job training and unemployment help. The site, www.problemsolver.maryland.gov, also provides help for senior citizens and the disabled.
