3A East Regional Final

Fallston @ No. 6 Wilde Lake

WHEN: Tomorrow, 6 p.m.

OUTLOOK: The night Fallston (8-3) qualified for its first postseason playoff game in the school's 32-year history, Cougars coach Dave Cesky told his players he believed they could win a regional title. The Cougars beat Stephen Decatur, 37-6, last week to earn the opportunity. But to do it, they will have to go up against the experienced Wildecats (10-1). Wilde Lake got to this game by defeating cross-county rival Howard, 21-14, and now has a chance to further coach Doug DuVall's dream of another state title (he has five) in his last season before retiring.

2A South Regional Final

Frederick Douglass-PG a@ No. 1 River Hill

WHEN: Tomorrow, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK: Douglass has speed and is a hard-hitting team, not unlike River Hill's last opponent, Gwynn Park, which gave the Hawks plenty to think about in River Hill's 20-6 win. River Hill, the 2007 Class 2A state champion, is trying for a repeat and will be bolstered by the return of K Scott Trench for the first time in four games, though backup Amir Shahegh has filled in admirably. Douglass has never won a state football title, though it finished as runner-up in 1975 and has made it to the state semifinals six times. The last time was in 2005.
