Upper Chesapeake Health schedules flu clinics

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold flu clinics for people 12 and older.

In addition to injections, the intranasal vaccine FluMist is available in limited quantities. The cost is $20 per vaccine, free for those with Medicare Part B. UCH will accept cash or checks only.

Schedule for clinics:

* Today: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harford Mall.

* Tuesday: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jarrettsville Fire House, 3825 Federal Hill Road.

* Thursday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 533 E. Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill.

* Nov. 23: 9 a.m. to noon at St. Mary's Church, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville.

* Pediatric Follow-up Clinic only: Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Flu clinics scheduled by county health agency

The Harford County Health Department will hold a flu vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at Level Fire Hall, 3633 Level Village Road.

For those with Medicare Part B, the vaccine is free; all others $20. Appointments are also available at the Woodbridge Station Health Department site.

FluMist nasal spray, an alternative to the flu shot for healthy people, ages 2 to 49 and not pregnant, is also available. Information: 410-612-1779.

Cancer Services Center open house is Tuesday

Upper Chesapeake Health's Center for Cancer Services and Cancer LifeNet will hold an open house from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the new Physicians Pavilion II, Upper Chesapeake Medical Center campus, Bel Air.

The public is invited to see the new facilities and learn about support services for individuals diagnosed with cancer and family members. Visitors can enter a drawing for a portable DVD player.

Cancer LifeNet offers nurse and volunteer navigator services, individual counseling and support services for individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families. These services are free to all in Harford and Cecil counties with a cancer diagnosis.

Registration for the open house is requested at 866-393-4355. Free garage parking is available.

Seminar on joint pain at Harford Memorial

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a free seminar on joint pain with Edward O'Mara, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Harford Memorial Hospital, Susquehanna Room.

Participants can learn how to have a better quality of life and different options for dealing with joint pain. Registration is required, 800-515-0044.

Mind-body intervention via guided imagery

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer a program on guided imagery at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Harford Memorial Hospital.

Participants can learn about and experience this mind-body intervention that focuses on stress reduction and promoting a sense of well-being.

'Dining with Docs' topic will be stroke signs, care

"Dining with Docs" dinner, lecture and discussion is offered by Upper Chesapeake Health at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's Chesapeake Conference Center.

Dr. Syed Shaukat, board certified in neurology and psychiatry, will discuss "Brain Attack Stroke," the warning signs and treatment for strokes.
