Seminar on starting your own business

SCORE Chapter 390 will be conducting a one-day workshop, "How to Start and Manage Your New Business," from 10:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Big Vanilla Athletic Club, Community Room, 1209 Ritchie Highway, Arnold.

Senior SCORE counselors and business professionals will provide information on writing a business plan, organization and record-keeping, risk management, marketing and sales, financial factors and sources of capital, and a Q&A session.

The cost is $60, and includes lunch. Registration is required.

Young professionals club

The Young Anne Arundel Professionals, a social club primarily for single professionals to make friends and share camaraderie, has announced its programs for November.

Activities include networking events at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Bateman's Bistro, 544 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park; 5 p.m. Saturday at Hoyts Cinema-BWI, 1140 Winterson Road, Linthicum; and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at Romilios, 478a Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

'What's Up' hires editors

What's Up? Publishing Group has hired two editors for its editorial staff.

Sarah Hagerty will be health and special projects editor for What's Up? Annapolis and What's Up? Eastern Shore magazines and managing editor for What's Up? Weddings.

Kymberly Taylor will be home and garden editor for What's Up? Annapolis and What's Up? Eastern Shore.

Tech council seminar

Chesapeake Regional Tech Council will hold a Tech Focus Seminar, Selling to the Government, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Westin Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel, 1110 Old Elkridge Landing Road, Linthicum.

Sarah Djamshidi of Chesapeake Innovation Center will moderate.

The cost is $25 for members in advance, $35 for members at the door and $45 for nonmembers.

The Tech Council will hold a "Membership 101" meeting from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at 2660 Riva Road, Suite 200, Annapolis.

The Anne Arundel County Parkinson's Support Group will hold its next meeting noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Elks Lodge, Truckhouse Road, Severna Park.
