Wilde Lake reaches 3A East final with 21-14 victory over Howard

Sam Jones threw for two touchdowns and ran for one more as visiting Severna Park stunned No. 5 Old Mill, 28-21, in a Class 4A East semifinal last night.

Austin Lewis also scored a touchdown for the Falcons (8-3) on an interception return.

Severna Park advances to the regional final next weekend against No. 6 Arundel, a 49-15 winner over North County last night.

The victory was the Falcons' eighth in the past nine games after a 0-2 start that included a 27-7 loss to the Patriots (9-2).

No. 7 WILDE LAKE 21, HOWARD 14: : Jarrel Epps rushed for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to lead the Wildecats (10-1) past visiting Howard (7-4) and into the Class 3A East final.

The senior finished with 67 rushing yards and 56 receiving yards. With the game scoreless in the second quarter, Epps took a handoff and scored from 6 yards out to give Wilde Lake a 7-0 lead. The Wildecats took that lead into halftime, and in the second half, Epps picked up where he left off. .

SEVERNA PARK 28, No. 5 OLD MILL 21: : Sam Jones threw for two touchdowns and ran for one more as the visiting Falcons (8-3) stunned the No. 5 Patriots (9-2) in a 4A East semifinal. Austin Lewis returned an interception for a touchdown in the win.

No. 8 HEREFORD 37, MERVO 6:: Nick DePaola rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulls (9-2) defeated the visiting Mustangs (6-5) to advance to the 3A North final. The Bulls rushed for 416 yards.

No. 11 JOPPATOWNE 14, CAMBRIDGE-SD 7:: Dominic Harper intercepted a pass in the end zone with 50 seconds left to help the Mariners (8-3) defeat the visiting Vikings (7-4) in a 1A East semifinal. Epe Henriques rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown in the win.

PERRY HALL 34, Thomas JOHNSON 0:: Davonta Farrell threw for three touchdowns and rushed for one more as the Gators (9-2) defeated the Patriots (6-5) to advance to the 4A North final.

FALLSTON 37, STEPHEN DECATUR 6:: David Ivory scored twice to lead the Cougars (8-3) over the Seahawks (7-4) in the first playoff game in Fallston history. The Cougars advanced to the 3A East final.

PIKESVILLE 22, NEW TOWN 18:: Jordan Parker's 50-yard run late in the game allowed the Panthers (7-4) to run out the clock and earn the first playoff win in school history as they defeated the Titans (6-5).
