Hamilton, James "Sonny" Baldwin

Following several months of declining health JAMES "SONNY" BALDWIN HAMILTON passed away peacefully Monday, November 3, 2008. Shortly after graduating from high school he served in the U.S. Army's Segregated 784th Tank Battalion from 1943-1945 including action in the European Theater. Returning home from the war, he began what became a 30 year career with the federal government. For 40 years he was a devoted husband to the late Vera Mae Reid. He is survived by their daughter Lynne, son-in-law Ray; granddaughter Morgan, grandson Marcus; his cousin Dimples; his friend Julia, numerous nephews and nieces from the Reid family and the surviving members of the U.S. Army's 784th Tank Battalion. An inurnment service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 3 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008.
