Police reports in Baltimore city and county:

Southern Baltimore

Arrest Police were in the 100 block of Washburn Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when they observed a gunman exiting an alley with a scarf over his face. He approached two women and was apparently about to rob them when he noticed the officers and fled. After a brief chase, during which the man discarded the gun, he was arrested. The gun was recovered. Jamal Fordes, 34, of the 3700 block of 9th St. in Brooklyn was charged with attempting to rob the women, attempting to rob another woman earlier that night and a handgun violation.

Western Baltimore

Shooting An unidentified man was shot in the back by an unknown assailant about 5 p.m. yesterday in the 2300 block of Druid Hill Ave. He was found nearby on Newington Avenue by police responding to the shooting. The man was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where his condition was not available. District detectives were investigating the incident.

Eastern Baltimore

Shots fired Four women and at least three children were inside a house in the 1700 block of N. Port St. about 5 a.m. Saturday when someone outside fired nearly a dozen shots into the dwelling. No injuries were reported. Police said the shots were believed to be retaliation for an earlier incident involving a resident of the house.

Robbery Police were seeking a man who broke into the home of an elderly woman in the 1300 block of Homewood Ave. about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, assaulted her and robbed her of an undisclosed sum of money. Anyone with information is asked to call the district's detective unit at 410-396-2433.

Southeastern Baltimore

Theft A 32-year-old woman was walking away from an ATM in the 400 block of S. Broadway about 4 p.m. Saturday when a man who had been following her snatched $100 from her and fled.

Theft Someone removed the catalytic converter from a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner between Friday and Saturday as it was parked in the 300 block of S. Patterson Park Ave.

Assault Police continued to seek two men who assaulted a man, 55, with a length of wood about 5 p.m. Friday while the victim stood at a bus stop in the 5600 block of Boston St. Police said the attack was believed related to an earlier assault. No arrests had been made.

Baltimore Co. -- Essex

Assault Police were seeking a man who fired several shots at people near Tailspin Lane and Sopwith Drive in Middle River about 12:05 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported, but at least one bullet struck a parked car.

Arson Someone set fire to the contents of a trash can in a girls restroom at Stemmers Run Middle School in the 200 block of Stemmers Run Road about 1:30 p.m. Friday. The fire was confined to the restroom and no injuries were reported.

Baltimore Co. -- White Marsh

Robbery A boy, 17, was walking in the parking lot of White Marsh Mall about 9 p.m. Friday when another youth struck him in the face and stole his skateboard.

Burglary A man entered Walgreen's in the 8600 block of Philadelphia Road through a pharmacy drive-through window Saturday night and stole off-the-shelf medication valued at $35. Police said the man cut himself entering the store and was being sought.

Baltimore Co -- Franklin

Robbery A woman was walking outside Owings Mills Mall about 3 p.m. Saturday when a man grabbed her by the hair and stole her wallet. After a brief struggle, the man fled. Police said the woman pursued the man for a short distance and retrieved her wallet. There was no arrest.


Robbery A woman, 23, and a man, 18, were seated in a car in the 1100 block of Ingleside Ave. about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when a gunman ordered the female driver to give up her property. Instead, the woman left the car and fled. The gunman then pointed the weapon at the passenger and robbed him of nearly $100.

Carjacking A man was unloading items from his black 2000 Mitsubishi Montera sport utility vehicle in the 6700 block of Townbrook Circle about 3:30 a.m. Friday when he was assaulted by another man who robbed him of his keys and drove off in the car. The car has tags M374662.
