Hot Buttons

Feeling the heat

Browns coach Romeo Crennel looked like he might weather the storm in Cleveland with Brady Quinn's strong debut Thursday, but a second straight fourth-quarter collapse at home puts him on the extreme hot seat. His team has blown leads of 14 and 13 points the past two games.

Can Owens catch on?

Cowboys WR Terrell Owens hasn't had a 100-yard receiving game this season, a drought that started in 2007 and spans 12 games. He had six 100-yard games last season. Look for the inevitable outcry if it doesn't happen shortly after QB Tony Romo returns next week.

Raiders hit junk status

Now that the Raiders have given up in 2008, cutting CB DeAngelo Hall to save future money on his contract, what's next? An intervention? Al Davis hired the youngest coach in modern history and fired him four games into a second season. No self-respecting coach would work for Davis. It's a boondoggle of a franchise.

Pressure on Del Rio

Coach Jack Del Rio is cracking down on the Jaguars after consecutive losses to the Browns and Bengals. His contract pays him $5 million a year starting next season through 2012, a deal Jags owner Wayne Weaver won't eat. That means the players can't win if things get ugly or confrontational in-house.
