County championship game

WHO: : No. 4 Broadneck vs. No. 6 Severna Park or No. 14 Arundel

WHEN:: Today, 6 p.m.

WHERE: : Southern High School

OUTLOOK: : The Bruins clinched a spot in the title game with last week's sweep over Arundel and were waiting to see who they would play based on Tuesday's Arundel-Severna Park game (after press time). Broadneck opened its season with a 3-1 win over Severna Park on Sept. 16, and that was the only game surrendered in county play going into this week's action. Last year, the Falcons upset Broadneck for the county championship, and then the Bruins went on to claim the Class 4A state title.

THE BALTIMORE SUN'S PICK: : Broadneck

FOOTBALL

WHO: : No. 5 Old Mill @ Annapolis

WHEN:: Tomorrow, 6:45 p.m.

OUTLOOK: : Both teams ran the ball effectively in wins last week. Junior RB Josh Furman powered Old Mill to a 27-21 win over Broadneck on Saturday, rushing for 197 yards. The Patriots also lean on fellow junior RB Jason Clements and can score points via the passing game, led by senior QB Grant Enders. Annapolis (5-3) needs a win to keep their Class 3A East playoff hopes alive after holding off a late charge from Meade in a 25-21 win on Friday. The Panthers look to senior RB Lamont Smith and sophomore RB Demond Brown.
