1.5-mile stretch of B-W Parkway is being widened

October 23, 2008|By MICHAEL DRESSER

The State Highway Administration is widening the Baltimore-Washington Parkway from two lanes to three in each direction between the Baltimore Beltway and Interstate 195, the agency said yesterday. The $12.4 million project will involve lane closings at night and on weekends. Work will not be scheduled during public events in Baltimore such as Orioles and Ravens games. The expansion of the 11/2-mile stretch of highway, also known as Maryland 295, is expected to be completed in fall 2011. The agency suggests Interstates 95 and 97 or U.S. 1 as alternate routes to avoid delays.
